Senior DevOps Engineer

Location: Adelaide
Duration: 6 months contract + Extensions
Security Clearance: NV2 required

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to support the design, development and implementation of secure software factory platforms within a high‑security Defence environment. You will work across Kubernetes, automation, platform engineering and secure infrastructure operations to enable teams to deliver software rapidly and safely.

This role is hands‑on, technical and suited to an engineer who thrives in complex, air‑gapped or highly controlled environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, documentation and deployment of secure software factory platforms
• Deploy and manage Kubernetes/K3s clusters
• Deploy and maintain software services such as Jira, Confluence, Big Bang
• Manage servers, workstations and edge devices running RHEL and Windows
• Create and maintain standard and hardened system images
• Conduct testing and validation of deployed services
• Develop automation and scripting using Bash or Python
• Provide DevOps/Platform Engineering support through Service Desk tasking
• Deploy and manage Azure resources
• Support secure platform operations within a Defence environment

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of DevSecOps practices and culture
• Experience with Docker/Podman containerisation
• Proficiency with RHEL/Linux administration
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Hands‑on experience with Configuration‑as‑Code (e.g., Ansible)
• Scripting experience (Bash, Python)
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience

Desirable Skills

• VMware experience
• Experience operating in air‑gapped environments
• Active Directory deployment and management
